VOX AC15CH Amplifier Head:
The AC15 Custom Head is an all-tube, EL84 driven workhorse that has both a Normal and Top Boost channel delivering 15 watts of authentic British tone. There is also a foot switchable spring reverb and classic Vox tremolo to enhance the already impressive sound.
The Vox AC15 Custom carries on the tradition that began in 1958 and offers guitarists the unmistakable sound of Vox, with all the refinements of a modern amplifier. Included in the AC15 Custom Head is Vox’s new Reactive Attenuator that uses Vox’s Reactor Technology that optimises the interaction of the speaker and amp at any volume. This allows the speaker and amp to behave in the same way at stage or bedroom levels, delivering a sense of power and tone that cannot be obtained from conventional attenuators. And so the Vox blurb goes...

Personal Comment:
As I was now building an amplifier rack in my small recording studio I was looking for a number of amplifiers that would give me a range of tones and Vox had always been on my list. My first encounter with Vox was back in the early 1970s when I got a loan of an AC30 combo, and what a fabulous sound that was, especially as I was just starting out on learning guitar.
When this modern version arrived I immediately remembered something about Vox amplifiers... they weigh a ton! even just the head alone comes in at 15.3 kg. These particular units are now assembled in China which is a shame to see such a traditional British icon leave its birth place. However, the amplifier head looks good and sounds fabulous. Despite the reputation Vox has for being bright and edgy, you can definitely get a very good range of tones with this amp head and the reverb is very smooth.
The Vox AC15 head is definitely a keeper for me, you can get beautiful cleans and driving crunch easily and shape the tone to suit a given guitar. I use the amplifier with a number of speaker combinations in an Isolation Cabinet - it just depends on what I'm working on. If you want to know more about this amplifier drop me an email.
