What does Grossmann say. The FATBOX is an isolation cabinet made of 25mm MDF and covered with robust textured paint . Sound reduction of up to 30 dB is possible (depending on the sound and frequency). The 18mm birch plywood baffle is the absolute industry standard for building professional guitar cabinets.. The bottom part of the cabinet provides space for a 12″ speaker. Above it, up to three microphones can be attached to the specially designed microphone stands. Your “recording room” is contained within the removable hood. With the robust microphone holder your microphone stays where you put it! The extremely solid and infinitely adjustable design allows you to choose any position you want and will last for years of constant use.

Home Recording Studio gear is a personal thing but certain bits of kit will always be a "must-have" and this website touches on some of the equipment I have come to use in my own recording work.​
As I developed my small recording studio which already has a reasonable sound booth within it, I still want to push certain valve amplifiers to volumes that even my sound booth struggles to deal with. The purchase of an Ironman II Attenuator was only part of the answer, and so after much searching and thoughts of building my own isolation box I came across the Grossmann Fat Box, and I like it very much for a number of reasons. It's moderately priced, however it's very well put together, typical German quality engineering. With the lid on you do need to adjust some of the frequencies altered in your mix, but not by much. Speaker switch-overs are so quick and easy and perfect mic placements are so quick to do. If there's a down point, it would be the weight, it's heavy, so using a castor board is wise if your going to move it around.
