Gibson LP 60’s Special Double Cut TV Yellow VOS Custom Shop: (2020)

The Les Paul Junior and Special were revised in 1958 to have double cutaways and more fingerboard access, but the Special didn't really hit its mark until 1960, when the lower pickup placement and slim neck taper made it more robust and easier to play than ever. The Custom Shop has proudly replicated the Cherry Red and TV Yellow originals in intricate detail with these 1960 Les Paul Special Double Cut Reissues. They are complete structural and visual clones of the coveted vintage counterparts, but the real magic is in their identical sound and playability. The VOS stands for Vintage Original Spec. A pair of mean, fiery Custom P-90s create tones ranging from sparkling cleans to crunchy distortion. Anything you throw at it, this Les Paul can handle!
Some quick specifications are a rosewood neck, scale length 24.75", with a 12" Radius, 22 medium jumbo frets, nylon nut, wraparound tailpiece, Kluson Strip with White Buttons, 2 Volumes and 2 Tones & Toggle Switch, CTS 500K Audio Taper Potentiometers, Paper-in-Oil Capacitors. Finish is a flat nitro-cellulose lacquer. The guitar comes with a Custom Shop hard shell case.
Personal Comment:
Yet another one of those purchases based on memories of days gone bye and seeing these in music paper magazine adverts as a young boy. While these guitars originally were marketed towards a more budget or student friendly market-place, as a teenager it was still well out of my reach, even a used model. I had been on the look-out for one of these but Gibson does not make that many and so this particular guitar I purchased second-hand The guitar was actually in pristine condition and had very little use as it was one of those "lock-down" purchases that some folks regretted later on. Just like the Les Paul Gold Top, although very much lighter, this is just such an enjoyable guitar to play and has a feel and tone all its own. Some folks sometimes get nervous about wrap tail-pieces but this guitar intonates perfectly and plays so well. I've never really understood why these are not more popular, such an underrated guitar. If you want to know more about this guitar drop me an email.
