Ibanez Tube Screamer Mini Pedal:
What does Ibanez say. The Ibanez Tube Screamer is one of the most beloved pedals in the world. Its ability to be used as a medium to low gain overdrive as well as being able to run as a clean or low gain boost made this a very popular pedal. While it may not be as smooth as the TS808 this still offers a beautiful overdrive sound that really makes the midrange pop out. This mid range peak is amazing in live situations when you need to pop through the mix for your next solo. Don't want as much of a peak in the midrange, no problem just lower the tone control and you get a smoother rhythm overdrive tone.
Personal Comment:
Before I make my own personal comment I will preface this with a general statement so the reader understands what I'm seeking to convey. EFX pedals are very much a personal choice although clearly, some pedals have more features than others and build cost will have a bearing on what you are getting for your money. Another point to raise is that, pedals may react differently depending on the amplifier in use or whether the pedals are going straight into the front of an amp or are routed via an amplifiers effects loop.
So, this was the first pedal I bought as I returned to playing guitar and I bought the Ibanez TS mini pedal because I was looking for an industry standard base foundation to get more drive tones and this age old pedal is still right up there in popularity. I choose the mini size as at that time I wanted a very small footprint of a pedal board. Having since tried quite a few overdrive pedals I find this little gem something I just keep coming back to and find it very useful at different times depending on my requirements.
