Fender Blues Junior 15w - Lacquered Tweed Valve Amplifier:

The Blues Jr. Lacquered Tweed takes Fender's 15W gem and gives it the true vintage treatment with a lacquered tweed covering and a vintage-voiced 12" Jensen speaker. Its golden tones are generated by an all-tube signal path using a pair of EL84 output tubes and 3 x 12AX7 preamp tubes. Add renowned Fender reverb, flexible controls, FAT switch for mid boost, and you're in business. And just look at that chrome panel, that tweed finish with vintage-style brown and gold grille cloth, and those vintage pointer knobs! And so goes the Fender blurb...

When it comes to small combos, the Fender Tweed models are just so eye-catching, or at least for those of us that love traditional icons of yesteryear. Once again the majority of these once all American made amplifiers are built in China and while I have nothing against other countries, it's just a shame to see so many USA and UK products now being built elsewhere.

Personal Comment:

When I purchased the latest Blues Junior model it was because of a sale and a good price at that. I already owned a little Blackstar Studio 10 6L6 which is such a great little combo, yet I really had to give the iconic Blues Junior a try-out.

I know many will disagree, but sorry... this amp just did not do it for me, the cleans were fine and the reverb was okay, but when I pushed the amp, I just did not like what I heard. Interestingly, another type of issue arose and that being, the lacquered finish went mouldy within a few months. It was easily cleaned, but there must be something in the lacquer that is causing this to happen when in certain environments.

So, all in all... this is not an amplifier I will try again but I'm glad I got the opportunity. I was able to get an excellent trade-in against another amplifier. If you want to know more about this amplifier drop me an email.
