Blackstar Studio 10 Series 6L6 Tube Combo Amplifier:
The Studio 10 6L6 deploys a 6L6 output valve and an ECC83 in the preamp stage to give this amp a distinctively American bright clean sound and searing lead tone. The built-in overdrive circuit, inspired by our renowned HT-Drive pedal – takes the lead tone from dynamic crunch to a singing, smooth legato and remains composed and graceful. Great Tone, Outstanding Comfort, Boutique Looks. So the Blackstar blurb goes...
When this amp was introduced it came in a number of vinyl finishes and while I thought the racing green finish was particularly fetching I went for the cream look as it fitted-in perfectly with my lounge décor and even my wife thought it looked really nice in the room... and that's one way to get another amplifier into the house without any arguments...
Personal Comment:
The little Blackstar came into the studio more or less at the outset of my return to playing guitar as I was looking for a boutique style combo that would look the part and give me that valve edge-of-break-up sound without all the neighbours calling the police. Another point was, I did not want to spend boutique amplifier prices and it was then in my search that I came across these little Blackstar combos.
While I have sold other amplifiers in my search for tone, this is one little combo that will be kept because it is just a great sounding amp. The tone dial gives you the opportunity to either go for a British or an American sound and the digital reverb is really very good. All in all I just really enjoy this little combo, it has a good number of very useable features.
My only complaint if you can call it that, it weighs quite a bit for such a little combo and that is mainly down to the fact that the casing is made of chipboard which is a heavy material. Of course, that will be a cost cutting exercise, however, I really like this hybrid combo, great tones. If you want to know more about this amplifier drop me an email.
