Bad Cat Black Cat 20w Valve Combo:

The lineage of the Black Cat goes all the way back to the original boutique guitar amplifier designed built in Southern California, USA. The inspiration for the new Black Cat was to capture all that is magical about the original designs all the while utilizing modern engineering and manufacturing advances to fit the needs of the modern player.

The Black Cat features two unique channels with bias-modulated tremolo and studio quality reverb. Channel 1, a more traditional Black Cat sound, is bright and clear without being harsh. It is very responsive, complex in midrange character while Channel 2 has all the complexity and chime of channel one but with more gain on tap, while preserving our signature string-to-string note definition.

Personal Comment:

While on my guitar journey I was of course on an amplifier search at the same time, and while in the early days of my return to guitar I went with some old favourites - namely Fender, it would not be long before I began looking at boutique style offerings.

It started with a search for a "Matchless" combo but waiting times were very long let alone expensive and it was then that I came across Bad Cat and in particular, the Black Cat combo. The build quality is excellent and the fit and finish is very tasteful. Quality materials and parts are through-out this beautiful combo and the tones achievable are simply quite fabulous. Rich and full bodied yet articulate and clear. I know, I'm sounding like a marketing leaflet, but I can't think of any better way to say how it is.

You can also see in the picture the Bad Cat Extension cabinet which has the same custom Celestion speaker fitted as in the combo. And a quick note on that speaker design, I have to say, having tried various speakers, this is of course really well matched with the amplifier. If you want to know more about this amplifier drop me an email.
